Excuses Are Like Armpits

Excuses are like armpits. If you don’t do something about them, they’re gonna stink! Back in 1994, I had been in business for 3 1/2 years and had no success. I was involved with a network marketing company. I had a mentor, but I wasn’t paying the guy a single dime, which meant I wasn’t doing anything with his advice. He eventually said to me, “You know what, John? If you want to argue for your limitations, you get to keep them.”

I recently spoke with a lady who moved here from a different country. She has been working in a network marketing business for two years with no success. Why? Because she is arguing for her limitations and making excuses. I know she is doing this because when I asked her about her key frustrations, issues, and concerns, she replied, “Oh, I don’t have any!” If you don’t have any problems or frustrations, then you are out of business.

If you’re taking massive action in your business, you will create more problems. That’s just the nature of the beast. That’s why we get paid as business owners to solve problems. If you are not having a lot of frustrations or problems, then you are not taking enough action. Here’s what I want to challenge you to do. Sit down, draw a line in the sand, whip out a blank sheet of paper, and say hey, “This is how much money I want to earn this year.” Then I want you to look at your calendar. If there’s anything on your calendar that will not help you get there, delete it. Then ask yourself, “What can I do to accomplish this number today?”

Take your yearly goal, divide it by how many days you are going to work, and that is how much money you have to earn that day. Then ask yourself, “What can I do today to reach that number?” You don’t need another seminar or book. You know what to do. Just ask yourself what you must do today to move the ball forward, and then go out and make it happen.

Finally, find somebody to hold yourself accountable to and pay their butt! See, things change when you are dropping $500, $1000, or $2,000 a month on a coach. You better believe you will do what it takes when you are paying that kind of money. So, stop making excuses.

As I said at the beginning, excuses are like armpits. If you don’t do something about yours, they will continue to stink! If you continue to argue for your limitations, you get to keep them. Remember this; today is the 1st day of the rest of your life. You get to choose how you will spend the rest of your life. You can come to the end of your time saying, “I shoulda, coulda, woulda,” or you can be saying, “Man, I knocked it out of the park”….The choice is Yours!!!

I look forward to hearing from you, reading your blogs, your book, and watching your videos. Go out and make it happen. You’re unique, and you can do it!
