Part 1 of 5: Starting a Business

Hello my dear followers, this time I want to tell you what was our last session of the Business Owner’s Mastermind Call with my partner Alan Reeves.

I want to start by saying that the reason why this week’s topic is so important is because it has been requested a lot from our listeners and followers. They are people who are leaving their job, who have not yet been able to return to work due to the pandemic, or because they are starting a business.

So the most frequent questions I have received are: how to achieve business success? How do you start a business? How will I structure it? Contract right now? Why don’t you hire me? There are so many different questions on how to start a business.

What is your vision?

The first thing to start with is, what is your vision? What is your vision for your business? What do you want to achieve? The thing is, even if you have many ideas in mind, you must be clear about the one thing that you will be most passionate about, that would make you extremely happy, fulfilled, and satisfied.

And then, you have to look for a business that makes you money. For this reason, the most advisable thing is to seek to start the number one business, for this, you must look around you, it can be in Google, and search: who else has this business? Who else has done this?

The Advise

For me, and as advice, it is much easier to start a business that has already been proven in the market. So what we are looking for on the internet is successful people in the market. Does this type of business exist? You look for their websites, their testimonials, their reviews, etc. Now some people, depending on what personality type you have, can look at that and say, oh my gosh, I’m late for the party. Not Everything is validation that the idea that you have floating in your head is successful and that the market will pay you for it. All you have to do is find out what your competition is doing that you are not doing, what you can do that your competition is not doing. And then you fill the void, whether both you and your competition are capable of doing it.

And this is how you are going to start your business, it is a vision. Where do you want to be in a year, in two years, in three years, in four years, if you can think 510 years from now, where do you want your business to be? Does it all start with that vision? Do you want it to be national? Do you want to be local? Do you want it to be global? You know, what is the geography of that? Who are your clients? What do you do for them? How? How are you going to deliver that product or service to them? Will you ultimately have employees? How much income will it produce? When all is said and done? Are you going to be a corporation? Will it be owned by the employees? Are you going to have partners? Are your people already successful in that space? What kind of pain are you solving? What kind of problem are you solving in the market? Where do you want me to finally be?

Mission and vision statement

Once you’ve set your vision, then you’ll want to create your mission statement. And the mission statement refers to, what do you really do? What is your job?. It is not a goal that you can achieve. It is not a vision of where you want to go. It is what you do.

Now, how do you write your mission statement? Well, what I have told people for many years is to make a list of all the benefits that your client will receive from working with you.

Once you have these lists, you can take them and combine them into certain words. Now that you have your vision statement and mission statement done, the next thing you want to do is decide your goals. What are your goals? no more than nine because it has to fit on a page, no more than one sentence, no more than one line. And it is your main objectives that you want to achieve before the end of the year.

To sell

There are many things that we do in life as human beings that we do not want to do. And if you are going to build a business, selling is one of those things that you may not like and hate. You need to learn how to sell, which should be in your one-page plan, as the goal is to get professional sales training. 

This year, if you are starting a business, next year, you will need a marketing plan. Therefore, you must have a marketing plan that works. Now if you are starting a business from scratch, you must be on your goals for this year, you must have an income goal.

You need to learn how to become professionally trained in sales, you need to create a marketing strategy. You need to decide which entity you are going to have, are you going to be a sole proprietor? Are you going to be an LLC? You are going to be an escort, you can be a C Corp. There are so many different questions to ask there. But you decide what entity you are going to have. And you must set that as a goal.

If you are just starting out and you are not going to hire another partner, sole proprietorships, probably where it should be until you get the income where it should be, then those are the different components. How are you going to set up your systems, do you need to set up your operating systems, your database, your CRM, do you need a website, probably, you need a LinkedIn profile, all your social media profiles, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, all these different things must happen to start.

However, I want to tell you that you don’t need to wait until you have all these ducks in a row to go tell someone. Start telling someone about your business now. Talk to your friends, family, relatives, current clients, past clients, go to your cell phone, talk to everyone about what you are doing.

And of course, be careful who you get advice from. Always get advice from people who have done what you have done, where you want to be successful.
